Hi. After a toxic employer relationship, am starting again. I took a new job which was meant to be a side move but feel like is actually a demotion (in role, is actually for more money). My confident took a huge battering and what I really would like is to find my career mojo and aim for a career again. does anyone ave any tips on how to do this? past career left me severely depressed, now much better but feeling down again. want to nip in bud and motivate myself. Thanks

Do you want to stay in the same field? Are you looking to get re-energised about the career path you're already on, or do you think you want to be open to something completely new?

How about an ideas board? Make yourself a board with ideas, words, images of how you want to feel in your career, the things you're good at, things you want to learn, aspects of work you want to spend the most time on etc etc...see what the overall picture looks like when you put it all together and whether ideas come from that? You can do this with a few friends and sometimes the ideas come from the conversations as you're doing it.

If you already know you want a change, see if you know any people/places who would let you go I. And shadow for a day or two? Join a professional group so you meet more people I that field? Get some books on topics that interest you and read, see if inspiration strikes?

thats a great reply, thank you

I think I need to get energised about my career path, I like what I do and I used to be good at it (although do not feel that way about myself now)
