Writing a notice letter

have tried googling but couldn't find a clear answer.
I will be handing my notice in soon, do you write a notice letter by hand (ie pen to paper) or is it better/more professional to type out on a computer?

It really doesn't matter just keep it short, clear and dated.

Type and send via email to create a record of delivery. I prefer to tell boss first and then send the email.
