I am still stuck in my 14 year old body when being asked what I want to do for work experience placement and have no idea what to do but seeing as I'm now 34 and my DD is starting school next year I feel like I need to make a change. Previous experience is all admin based and I'm currently working as PA but on maternity leave. I'm wondering about the following options:
Working as a receptionist in a school. Purely to get the term time hours. Would be convenient for childcare etc but not particularly fulfilling or well paid.
Becoming a healthcare assistant in hospital preferably maternity etc. Historically had wanted to be a midwife but I can't see how I can do a full time 3 year course with my two children and our childcare options so this would be a way of working alongside amazing nurses or midwives. But negatives are the shift work and probably only getting the clean up jobs rather than actually being with the women/babies?
999 call centre. Feel this could be an admin based way of still making a difference. Have previously done Samaritans so know I'm good on phone. Negative is again shift work, call centre is an hour drive away and husband worried about how I would cope with traumatic calls....
I know I want something that I can be proud of when someone says hi what do you do and I know I want to be able to help in some way but I'm just not sure.
Has anyone done any of these jobs and can recommend? Or have any other suggestions around these kinda themes?
Thank you
