Night shifts

Just started work in a care home I only do 28.5 hrs a week but it can work out if u look at a week mon to sun and they do mu 28.5 hrs eg fri sat sun and then mon tues thurs week after can mean I'm doing 60 hours in a 7 day period spoke to my boss and was basically told get on with it it's my first care job and wondered if this happend in other settings??they are good in they give me the 28.5 hrs a week I need as we dont get contracted hrs either so I dare not complain too much!

I'm afraid I think that's pretty standard across the board. Luckily the ward I work on does give us a break between shifts. But i have worked in places that have done Fri-sun one week then done Mon, Tues, Thurs (for example) the following week. So end up doing 5 shifts in a row but as it rolls in to 2 different weeks then it doesn't make a difference.
