Any OTs out there?

After a 10 year career in clinical research (I'm not a nurse) and time out for 2 children, I'm thinking about retraining as an OT. Anyone out there who works as one? I've always done healthcare ish work although not as an actual qualified professional, don't want to go back to pharmaceutical based research if i can help it though. How much autonomy do you get in the job and what's it like for private work? I know you can do a compressed 2 year course if you have a degree, is that well regarded? Is it just as easy to get jobs if you have that compared to an undergrad degree?
Thank you. Any comments appreciated!
