Leaving teaching, now what?

I've been a primary school teacher for 26 years (crikey that's a long time!) but will be leaving in December.

I will probably do some tutoring but that's obviously evenings/weekends.

Are there any ex teachers out there who have found a new direction?

I took a sideways step into an advisory role. It's totally different. Would that be a possibility for you?

I hadn't considered that, what does it entail?

Yep, after 8 years went to work for one of the big exam boards. After 4 years there I am now doing something completely different but office based.

I travel round schools advising on certain areas. It's really interesting and less stressful than classroom teaching. Jobs like mine come up on the county council education board.
