NHS Work related stress- Depression- long term sick- redeployment?

I've been off sick for 5 months from my Band 5 NHS role, due to severe depression caused predominantly by workplace stress and culture.

I am now taking prescribed medication and doing better.

I have been in contact with my line manager , occupation health and an in work psychiatrist.

The psychiatrist and OH have formally put forward a suggestion in reports for redeployment, as its not tenable for me to return to the previous environment.

I am in contact with a HR advisor at my workplace and in contact with a union representative who I have my first call with this week.

Just looking for some advice please my sick pay is exhausted and I'm on SSP

Does anyone have experience of the NHS redeployment process due to Ill health and particularly Mental Health?

Who facilitated the process, particurlarly as my illness is because of work and department I foresee it being difficult if my line manager facilitates it.

I've no advice but just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear you are in this situation. It's shocking to read in these threads how many nurses are struggling with the job and mental health. I nursed for 30 years but had to make the decision to leave a year or so ago due to the severe anxiety it caused me. I took the decision just to leave the profession as I knew I couldn't carry on long term. I hope you recover and manage to find alternative employment.

Thank you for your sympathy , it means a lot I’ve done a timeline of events today to help try find out what contributed to me getting ill and certainly the staff culture is part of it . Occupational Health are shocked at the number of mental health cases coming through . Only at the start of my career unfortunately !

Have looked into other organizations but offered shoddy salaries on zero hours contract , no pension etc and rota released week before . Not a good time to be starting out in healthcare , think I’m best to stay put even though off sick. Hoping union will be help .
