When I arrived this morning I had a lovely letter on my desk
"I am dissapointed to hear that Beccarollover is leaving your company although for very good and understandable reasons; a great loss nevertheless.

I have no hesitation in volunteering to give Beccarollover a reference should she require one and I ask that you find a successor of at least half the ability and personality of her - if your achieve that, you will have done well.
