I'm starting a new business and my whole income will centre on clients paying me a set amount per month. Having just set up a business account, I asked Barclays for advice on how to ask my clients to set up direct debits. They told me I would have to have over 200K income pa which is a pipe dream at the mo!
They told me I have 2 options -

  • apply to a direct debit originator (like GoCardless)
  • use Barclaycard subscription manager.

Has anyone used either of these, if so what are your experiences?
Or should I ask clients to set up standing orders. The bank did not mention this but as it will be the same amount every month I guess this might work. I would probably put my fees up once a year.

Also, has anyone got any tips on a good office management programme to keep clients details? I am a Mac user and would ideally like to start super organised so I can be efficient with my admin time.

Thanks in advance
