Question about return to work after two-week sick absence

I would really appreciate your thoughts on the following. My GBP gave me a sick note stating that I am not fit for work for 2 weeks on 1st August. I did work that day and saw my GBP in the early evening. My question is when I am due to go back to work: on 15th or 16th August? Thank you very much. I have tried to google this but there are lots of conflicting replies.

I would say 16th.

Does your sick note have an end date on it? If so, that’s the last day of your absence and you would be expected to return to work the next day.

Strictly speaking you are due back on the 15th. However as you worked on the 1st your employer might accept that it runs from the 2nd not the 1st, so I would speak to them and agree on the 16th to avoid any issues with being accused of unauthorised absence.

Thank you all! My sick note only states 2 weeks. I will speak to HR and see what she thinks.
