LinkedIn question - how to update without tipping off current employer

I fancy a new job. Recruitment agencies in my industry use LinkedIn quite heavily.

My problem is that my current profile is pretty minimal, just employers and educational institutions. I’d like to fill it in so it’s more or less a full cv, but for tactical reasons I don’t want to flag it up to my boss. I seem to recall that when a previous assistant of mine was adding a bunch of stuff to his profile (clearly in order to job hunt) I was notified as one of his contacts. Does it work that way? If I just add detail to existing historic jobs will it be emailed to everyone I know “Midnight is obviously job hunting”?

In settings /privacy there is a section about letting contacts know of updates

Go to www.linkedin.com/psettings/
Then How others see your LinkedIn activity
Then Share job changes, education changes, and work anniversaries from profile
Toggle to "no" as per pic.
