Anyone from Kent?

Hi,
I was offered a job with a major biotech company last year but they wanted me to relocate to Birmingham and I turned the job down. Same job has come up again but covering the south east. I was thinking of renting in Kent for a while before buying. This would be a family relocation but my hubby can easily get a transfer in his job.
What are house prices like and where are the nice places to live in Kent? Bear in mind we are from the north east but are mortgage free and have another house in trust (inherited).
I really need to leave my job here as the night working is affecting me now I’m late 40’s.
I figured Kent was cheaper than Surrey and Sussex.

Prices will definitely be more expensive than you're used to in the NE, but it is lovely down here. Kent's quite a big county though, do you have anywhere particular in mind? Will you need to travel for your job? So be on the commuter line to London, or close to the M25 so you can get to other places easily? Do you prefer town or village life?

It’s a field based role but south east. I’d prefer village but close to a town and major road.

You look at somewhere like Hildenborough? It's a village in between Tonbridge and Sevenoaks, both towns with easy access to both the M25 and M20. If you search it on Google Maps and zoom out, there are other villages in the area too, it's a beautiful part of the country. Good luck!

Lots of nice villages in the Maidstone / Ashford areas and close to the M20 . Kent is lovely .
