Do I need to forget about this job?

How long after receiving the following email would you accept that you hadn't been shortlisted and need to forget about that particular job? Grin what's the etiquette regarding dropping a quick email to see if the position has been filled?

'We appreciate your interest in the position of Receptionist for which you have applied. We are currently in the process of shortlisting candidates and will be in touch if your application is successful.'

Maybe a fortnight? No need to drop an email to see if position has been filled- that won’t change anything.

@flowery yeah I thought so! Received that message on the 17/06 so I'm assuming the position has been filled. Won't bother emailing them Smile

Onwards and upwards!

With the current trend for employers not to inform unsuccessful applicants/ candidates (can understand somewhat at applicaton stage but not after an interview) I apply the following rules
Not heard back within 2 weeks of closing date - you haven't got an interview

Not heard back within 3 days of interview - you (most probably) haven't got the job.

@DontPressSendTooSoon thanks Smile will bear that in mind as I continue on my job hunt!
