HELP! Redundancy whilst on mat leave

I have looked up all the basic legal info but I’m still confused.

Financially what are you entitled to?
My contract has a 3 month notice period and I have worked over 7 full years.

Parts of my role were given to a more junior member of the team after my first maternity leave and it seems 5 years later the rest will go too.

I have received an at risk letter saying our only client is reducing the contract so there is less need for my job title but there is a junior covering my role and title and since returning to work I have also been working half my time on another business owned by the director - where there is no mention of this at all in the letter!

Any advice?????

I should add I have been working in my role on the unmentionedither business for over 5 years.

I think you have quite a unique situation with the other business and need to consult an employment solicitor

Are you actually on mat leave?

As long as you past the 25th qualifying week of pregnancy, then they will still have to pay you all of your SMP for the 39 weeks.

As for any redundancy pay out, it depends on the company policy. Most have a policy of a week or months wage per year of service.

I was put at risk while pregnant with DS2. I remember the ACAS website being particularly helpful. They had a thorough section on redundancy while pregnant/on maternity leave.

your in a protected class, speak with ACAS.

I was made redundant whilst pregnant, still
some roles in office and they had to offer me most suitable role, without applying or interviewing.

Thank you - I will contact ACAS. I understand the basic is a week for every year and I will get smp but obviously it’s not an ideal time whilst on mat leave as it puts pressure to find a job before I was planning on returning.
I don’t understand if my notice period in my contract of 3 months will have any bearing???

Contact ACAS definitely as you're much more protected than anyone else if you're pregnant.

You would get SMP and your redundancy payout would be ok if you've been there 7 years, might be better if the company offers more on top of the standard.

I got made redundant when pregnant. Was only due to get SMP from my employer anyway so that didn't change. And I got about 10k payout on top. Then got a new job at the end of my mat leave with much more family friendly hours so it actually worked out pretty well for me in the end, so don't panic! And you'll be able to claim job seekers allowance at the end of your SMP if you're still looking for a job then. It's not much but you might as well claim it if you're entitled to it.

Thank you - I’m waiting to hear from my employer - they recruited a new person in a junior position a month ago!
I’m still confused about my notice period would that just be during smp or would I potentially get that as my salary???
Thanks for all the replies! Trying to see it as a positive but I’m also annoyed how many people get dicked about for having babies!!!
