Group assessment

Can anyone tell me why employers do group assessments? Dd has had 2 this week for 2 different jobs.

We do them when we have multiple jobs with a large number of applications, we can get a large group in at once , always no shows which cancels some people out straight away then we see how candidates interact, presentation etc. If it’s positive we then invite to one on one with relevant manager and there time hasn’t been wasted one someone who doesn’t bother to turn up or doesn’t match their CV
