Start up as a pet sitter

Hello, I’m looking to start up a pet sitting business!
Super excited!

I will be looking to feed cats and small furries in their homes through drop in visits over the summer.
I’ve looked into pet sitter/public liability insurance, have designed an ad which I plan to post on social media and put up in my staff room at my current job.

What else do I need to do?!

Oh and I need a business name!

Hi Ohmydarling.
I have my own dog walking business. I have also done home boarding for dogs. I have liability insurance which covers me for the dogs in my care.
When I was setting up, I was informed by my local council that I didn't need insurance for walking, just the boarding of dogs.
I have started to look after cats whilst owners are away (I've only looked after my walking customers cats).
My understanding is it's not necessary to have insurance, but it's a good idea in this culture we live in to have it.
Other walking business owners I know, who also do small pet visits, just have the liability insurance. Mine is around £15 per month.
Check with your local council if there is anything else you need. You'll find they are very good at pointing you in the right direction.
Good luck!
