Quick question- what would you think about a career with SAS?

I've heard they're rapidly losing market share and seen as old fashioned now.

But seems a nice place to work with good benefits. Don't want to start working somewhere that might actually damage my long-term career prospects or end up redundant!

See where they rank on Gartner grids. What level are you working at? How technical?

I wouldn't actually be in a programmatic or data analyst role there myself...a broader digital role. It's more a case that I wouldn't want to join a company where the perception is that it's very dated, if that was going to be looked down on with my CV in the future?

You need to look at their strategy for the next few years. Do you support the direction the CEO is leading the company in? Look at companies like Microsoft and how their business model has changed since their new CEO. Tech is tech and if you're not developing it then it's not limiting provided you are good at your role and develop skills and values other companies want. They're still a big tech company and there are more jobs in tech than people skilled so it wouldn't be hard to jump ship later.
