I have to do a presentation on how to improve communications within a team, and what techniques to review and monitor them. I should know this all to well, but my brain seems to have gone to sleep and I am now panicking. Any suggestions gratefully received by Friday please.

No suggestions really, only sympathy. I've got to do an interview presentation as well and my brain's feeling pretty mushy of an evening.

something about asking a person to their face and not hiding behind e-mail

regualar team meetings with contributions from each member

something about training, listening skills and the understanding of priotities.

that what is my priority may not be yours. So to make firm agreed timescales for deadlines with regualr project meetings 1-2-1 supervison andteam input.

Custardo stuff plus: look at roles within the group: do people get the right levels of responsibility/authority relative to their skillset? How can we identify underlying motivational issues that result in communication issues? if people are resentful and have 'given up' then team meetings can be very painful.

also always good to have a process of involving all members of staff in identifying issues within the team (including communications, but not limited to it) and coming to consensus of how to fix them: if staff participate directly in the process (not via 'representation') then they are much more likely to be motivated to 'buy-in' to the solutions which are decided upon. It doesn't mean that they decide what to do but that they feel their comments/views are taken fully into account when the decisions of what to do are taken.
