Graduate Scheme with OU degree?

Hi, does anyone have any experience of joining a graduate scheme after being a mature student?

I'll be 29 when I graduate next year, with a Business degree from Open University. I have 3 years experience as an accounts assistant and 3 years as a payroll clerk.

I'm torn between sticking with payroll and looking for a better paid role, and trying to get on a graduate scheme doing something different. Will they laugh me out of the door?

No, of course they won't laugh you out the door, and 29 isn't particularly old in terms of graduate schemes. What classification are you expecting, and what area/ profession are you interested in?

I'm expecting a 2:1. Ideally I'd like to get into logistics within a large business or supermarket, no idea where to start. Not the aldi graduate scheme though unless I complete my A levels!

Or, try and get into a HR/Finance department using my current experience then move sideways.

I’ve recruited for grad schemes and we’ve have taken your application.

Recommend trying FMCG companies for supply chain programmes.

That's encouraging Shelley thanks!
