How to decline one job when a better option comes along?

so I applied for 2 jobs at the same time. The one company interviewed 3 weeks before the other interview date.

I got the job for company A

However, I also got the job for company B which is a managerial role so comes with more money, responsibility and a career progression etc

Where do I stand in now declining the job I accepted in the first place. I’ve not signed anything as of yet so not in any contract and I don’t want to burn bridges with company A as I know a few of them and do genuinely like them. However, I couldn’t turn down company B it was too good of a role.

So how should I deal with this? Advice please.

Just be honest really.

Thank them for the opportunity but you have received an offer from elsewhere with a higher salary and more responsibility and you have decided to take this instead.

Thanks again for considering me, hope to work with you in the future etc

Happens all the time OP, don't feel guilty
