HR people! Ideas forum?

About 10 -15 years ago I was a member of a very valuable forum for HR people which was great for problem solving and ideas. It did have a small fee of about £25 to join IIRC.

I can not think for a second what it was or even if it's still going. I've tried googling.

Anyone know anything about it?

If you’re a member of the CIPD they have a discussion forum which is really good

The CIPD LinkedIn group and Facebook groups are pretty reasonable.

It's more of an OD question I want to ask - the CIPD site isn't too hot on that.

In a nutshell, I'm down to do a training session for a team next week- dry topic. A key team member sadly died of a long illness although still attending work until very recently. Funeral was last week. Young, talented chap with young family. It's hurting everyone.

I'm thinking it might be better to do something a bit more engaging and active than the planned session. I was looking for ideas on workshops based around workplace wellbeing, communication, time management - something that's not lecturing ="talk and chalk" as we used to say (showing my age with that one!) .

Having now joined HR Ninjas (and promptly outed myself ) it seems very busy and might be worth a go for this Olly?

re your topic is worth bring in a counsellor - if yes I know of a great one. pm me if you want her details hope you are ok too as it's always a hard topic but make sure you look after yourself too :-)

No I was fine being outed, or rather outing myself- I don’t attempt to maintain anonymity on here anyway- my website is in my profile so anyone can see who I am if they want. I just ‘outed’ myself because a lovely lady posted saying she always wondered who flowery is on MN, and as I was on the thread in question I thought I should confess!

Seems a good group, nice and busy.

Can I recommend Mind as a source of resources for mindfulness and also support for the employees dealing with this?

I would also contact your employee assistance programme provider as they may have training and resources and they may have specialist bereavement counselling available.

Have a think about the purpose, objectives and outcomes of the session, and then how you might go about achieving those in a more engaging/interactive way.

Have you ever used appreciative enquiry approaches?

The Facebook page is very busy but confidentiality might be an issue if looking to vent- a poster this week had her posts sent to her employer.

@mademoisellegazelle. What? That’s outrageous! It doesnt seem like a very professional group (unless the poster in question had done something very bad indeed).
