Small business without commitment

Looking to start a small business after retirement but needs to be something that can be picked up and put down to enable us to travel. Has anyone any ideas.

Sorry op, but its not possible running a business, even a small one will take time, energy and consistency. One very big underestimation when running a business is the amount of commitment that goes in to it.

Probably not what you want to hear.

It sounds as though you don't want to start a business, you want some freelance work. As @quietcontentment has said, setting up and running a business takes considerable effort.

What jobs do you do now? Could you do those on a consultancy/contract basis? Do you have other skills that you could use to work freelance/piecework?
