Transcribing work from home. Advice please.

Currently researching whether doing transcribing work from home would be a good option for me.

I was under the impression that I would have to buy a dictation pedal and computer software but having spoken to someone by chance she said she managed quite well just with a software package called express scribe and a rented laptop.

From research I understand that certain companies are best to start with who, although they pay less, they are good whilst gaining typing speed and experience and to then move on to other companies once a faster typing speed is achieved.

Although I have worked in the legal sector for a number of years I feel I would need to improve my typing speed somewhat.

I would be very interested to receive any advice from anyone who has earned a living from this type of work. Please could you advise me as to which companies are best and are there any I should avoid?

Don't know about legal work, but there's lots of work in market research, transcribing group discussions and interviews. However, because of GDPR issues, it's much better to do this working through an agency. Contact Take Note Typing and see if they can help you. here
