Customer service interview

Going for my first customer service position. I've done my research on the company and that but the question I know will trip me up is "give an example of a time you've given or received great customer service". What sort of thing are they actually expecting as an answer? Service is generally either adequate or crap, never excellent.

If in doubt make something up (although this obviously isn't a good idea for questions about you!!).

Think up a scenario such as returning an item and the sales advisor was friendly and helpful, put you at ease and went the extra mile maybe by getting the replacement item for you instead of you having to search for the same product in a different size?

Or what about an example of you went on holiday and at the hotel the concierge took your bags up to your rooms, you realised it was the wrong room and they organised a new room, moved your bags and offered a free meal and drink?
