Redundancy - maternity allowance

Hiya ...I'am 24 weeks pregnant and have recently been made redundant. I'am due to send off my maternity allowance form. Does anyone know if it takes a long time to hear back? Its sooooooooooo rubbish losing ur job and just missing the cut off for SMP xxxx

Sorry to hear you've been made redundant. I claimed MA just before Christmas and started receiving payment as early as possible, so from 29 weeks pregnant. I heard via text that they'd received the form within a few days and would reach a decision within 6 weeks. For me, it was 32 days until my decision came through via text and my first, backdated, payment was in my account another week after that.

It was very simple to claim and the helpline staff were very helpful. Remember to lookat what other benefits you may be entitled to.
