Interview tips please!

Got an interview for a HCA part time in palliative care with the NHS.
Absolutely bricking it, haven't worked since 2009.
Tips please? I've got tattoos so will obviously keep those covered.
They messaged me today to say they're looking forward to seeing me and if I can't make it to cancel but I really really want this. I'm rubbish at interviews though - I either talk too much or not enough. I never know how much eye contact to make. I fidget, I have a couple of stims and my eye twitches when I get stressed Confused
Not going to make a good impression am I?

Go through the job description and person specification.

Think of examples for every person specification point. Using the STAR L approach that is:

Situation- What was the situation?
Task- What was your task?
Approach- How did you approach it?
Result- What was the result/outcome

Learning- What did you learn from it.

Write them down and using this approach in interview will help you give focused answers and hopefully not ramble. Good luck

A point to remember when answering their questions, your answers do not have to be job based. You can use examples from your personal life if they ask when you've faced challenges/how you've dealt with situations etc.

Thanks. I had it today. Found a place of calm and tried not to mess it up. Think I did ok, felt good when I came out. The lady took my mobile number as I left and told me she'd be in touch in a couple of days.
Then I got a call this afternoon (missed it unfortunately) from the guy at the interview saying to call him back, so hopefully its good news!

Just a quick update, didn't get the job. They said I came across really well and they liked me but was a case of someone else having more experience. Oh well! They're keeping me on record as they're expanding and want to offer me a position further on down the line.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the job BUT it does sound like very positive feedback for your first time applying for a job since 2009. I'd certainly be pleased with my performance if I were you. You perhaps already do, but could you maybe volunteer at a local hospice or similar to gain some experience ready for when a similar role comes up in the future?

Thanks @RidgedPerfection . It's definitely something I'm looking at as I'm applying to uni next year so anything that helps Smile
