best day and time to send CV

I read It's best to send CVs before 12 pm, and Fridays should be avoided.
Is there any truth in it?
I end up delaying applications to next day for this reason many times.

I think it will very much depend on the employer and how they process things. I think getting hung up on things like when to send things is one of the least things I'd worry about when applying for a job, as long as it's before the deadline, and I would try not to leave it until the last minute if possible (because I'm like that with most things.)

However, it can be a good idea to leave it overnight and review it again in the morning before sending, so you look at it again with a fresher eye.

Depends if it's speculative or for an advertised vacancy with a closing date. With a vacancy it doesn't matter, because no decisions should be made until you have the whole picture, ie every CV. For a spec CV I would send after hours so it's sitting there first thing to be read, but that's really personal preference and I don't think it would really make a difference.

Personally I don't think it matters when it's sent. Most companies have short listing criteria and spend a lot of time sifting through applications. The candidates that don't meet it immediately go to the no pile. I think as long as you've taken the time to really go over your application and you've met that to the best of your ability, then you're in with a good shot. I don't think time matters. Although I wouldn't leave it right to the final minutes incase something goes horribly wrong, Internet etc.

In our office unless there is an advertised vacancy all CV’s sent via email get printed off and put in the Md’s in-tray along with the post. First thing in the morning is most likely to be ignored as I come in to a ream of emails in the morning and click on the important ones first.

Most organisations don't have people sitting there waiting for CVs to arrive through their web portal or by email, to even know it came in on a Friday, or any other day!

If they give you a deadline then give yourself enough time to make sure your CV has been rechecked so it's word perfect, relevant/tailored to the specific job you're applying for and ready to submit a day or two before the deadline.

Some ads say they may close early if they get sufficient applications, so I'd apply well before the closing date if it says this.

Other than that I don't think it matters, if you're good you'll get listed.
