When to chase up?

Hello everyone.

If you went a an interview one day and they said they were hoping to advise people on a particular day the following week, when would it be appropriate to enquire as to if decisions had been made?

We were told the recruiters were hoping to have made a decision by end of business yesterday; still nothing either way.

Would it be appropriate to enquire the day after?

Argh! Well at least I know. Onwards and upwards. Half the stress is not knowing TBH.
