Looking for a new job after 4 months

I changed jobs (4 days a week to full time) as the new job had a much shorter commute. However, I don't feel the shorter commute has been a good pay off for increasing my work days.

I'm also really not enjoying this job. It's very boring. It feels very solitary. I manage a small team but not based near them. No one else in the organisation does the same job as me and they don't have any processes written down. So it takes me days to work out how to do things. I have a manager but only see them once a fortnight.

It's really getting me down and it's also taking away my confidence. I want to start applying for other jobs but will the short termness of this job look bad? I've also got a 3 month notice period so feel that's not in my favour either.

How long were you in your previous job?
Have you expressed your concerns about processes to your manager?

Singlenotsingle · 08/05/2019 07:12

No it won't look bad. People change jobs for all sorts of reasons, and if you're not happy, there wouldn't be any point staying.
As far as the 3 month notice period be is concerned, your employer might not want you to work it anyway. You could probably negotiate your way out of it. Face that problem when the time comes. It's not a big problem.

I wouldn't blame you, this job sounds crap. It's more normal now to have shorter term jobs anyway.

I was in my previous job for 6 years. Yes ive tried talking to him but he does a different role to me and isn't aware of how complicated things are. He just thinks they happen. I haven't had any induction either really I was just left on my own from the first day.

Are you on probation with 1 week notice?

Find another job then leave. Explain why you didn't like it positively if interviewer asks

Or hand in notice and see if then they talk and sort it

Thank you. That's a good point i will check my contract today. I am on probation til July. I've not had any probation meetings or objectives Confused

I wasn't a manager but I ended up in a job where our small office was based away from the rest of the department and my colleagues were part time. I was frequently in on my own with things coming up that I didn't have a clue what to do with and no one to ask. I should have left after 3 months but stupidly stayed for years.

That sounds just like this job. It's so miserable. Right I've got a plan. First I'll check my contract for my notice period and probation. Then I'm going to look and apply for anything suitable
