Maternity/sick leave advice

Hi I am new to this so please bear with! I am currently due to go on maternity leave and before I found out I was expecting was scheduled to have an operation which is now being put back to after my due date (it needs to be done) originally we were looking at 6-8 weeks recovery time with sick pay but now that recovery time is going to be during my maternity leave - so most of it will be recovering from the operation instead of enjoying my new addition. If that's the case then that's fair but feels a bit like I am missing out! I looked on line and cant find any help. I wont be able to lift my new one for at least 4 weeks... has anyone been in this dilemma?

What's the dilemma? If you've started your maternity leave then you can't get sick pay at the same time as you'll be getting maternity pay instead

Unless you've gone back to work by the time it happens then I don't think there's anything you can do I'm afraid...I can see it's frustrating though!

No I haven't but I understand feeling a bit hard done by. I'm definitely no expert but I can't imagine there being much you can do about it. You can ask HR I guess.

I needed an operation before ttc for dc2 and I was so disappointed when my operation got cancelled at the last minute as there was an emergency. It put trying for a baby back by about 6 months which really pissed me off, but couldn't be helped.
