CS maternity leave/pay query

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, but just looking for some general guidance.

I am going through pre-employment checks for a CS job currently, and am hoping that I will get the formal offer through before the end of the month. I would then need to give two months notice with my current employer, so the earliest (although hoping for sooner!) I can start would be around August/September time.

Next year my partner and I want to start TTC, aiming (in an ideal world...) for a birth between October-December. I know that I will get more information when I'm fully on board, and I've tried to do some research with what I could find online, but would be grateful for any advice that existing CS's can provide around how long you need to have been employed to be eligible for the various 'packages' of payment.

As such, can anyone explain in layman's terms how long I will need to have been working for in my new job in order to get the maximum benefits? Do the policies vary from department to department? I know I will be eligible for certain things from day one regardless, but obviously keen to know if there is a hard cut-off which could influence if we should slightly delay starting a family.

I found this thread which seems to be asking some similar questions at the end - it looks like I will need to make sure that any due date does not prevent me from having worked for one year in order to be eligible for the contractual pay, can anyone confirm...?

As far as I understand, by the time you are 26 weeks pregnant you need to have been employed for 52 weeks to gain the full paid maternity entitlement with the CS. Happy to be corrected!

You have to worked 52 weeks by your 15th week of pregnancy.

When you start you can email HR and ask, and they can give you a date you would be entitled to enhanced maternity pay

A lot of the new policies vary by department, so definitely check with HR and ask for a copy of the policy rather than asking here. And no, HR won’t hold it against you and cancel your job offer!

There are also “new terms” and “old terms” depending on when you join (you’ll definitely be on “new terms” as things changed for new starters in 2013 ish) so not everyone has the same qualifying period. For instance I’m on “old terms” and I would have qualified so long as I wasn’t pregnant when I started.
