Bit of a rant

Is it me or are employers totally rude these days?

I've been applying to local jobs (so the employers aren't getting bombarded with hundreds of emails) and they don't even acknowledge your application. I applied for one position that was advertised on a FB page that has a small audience and I hadn't heard from them either way in a month so sent a note asking if they received it and still no reply. Same with other companies too.

I used to work in recruitment and it is really rude to not acknowledge someone taking the time and effort to do their CV and a cover letter. I used to get 000's CV's for some jobs I advertised and although not ideal, I still had a standard letter that acknowledged their application was received and that we would be in touch if successful within 3 weeks.

During my previous role I actually wrote the best practise for the company WRT to hiring employees and how they should be treated in the process. Should I send them a copy?

It's not just employers who are rude - people ask for recommendations on fb for a cleaner, I send them a pm introducing myself etc, they read it and don't respond.

I would never do this, what has happened to manners?!
