Colleague off work with stress

Hello

I would be grateful for some advice. A colleague who is more of a personal friend (works in a totally different area but same organisation) is off with work related stress. I don't know any details apart from some outline information and she has told me it is safer for me if she doesn't discuss the matter with me. She says it is very serious. However she messages me frequently asking questions about work concerning whether her line manager is in and asking about restructuring in her team and training courses. This makes me uncomfortable but I don't want to hurt her feelings by asking her to stop and I answer as briefly as I can or say I don't know. Am I likely to get in trouble for engaging in these conversations? Is there a nice way that I can ask her to stop?

Thanks

just reply something like

"I'm not allowed to discuss work whilst you are off sick but happy to chat about other things x"

and keep repeating that

I would not get involved. It sounds like she may have made a claim against someone in her department.
