CV without giving company name

Is it acceptable to send a CV without detailing the name of your current employer?

For reasons to long to go into in short post I do not want to state my current employer on my application, I would describe the sector but not specific company.

I'm intrigued so I'm sure the employer would be too! Plus they'll want to do referencing.

I would declare at interview, I don't want the CV scanners to know where I work, the panel would know who I am if selected

I wouldn’t have accepted it but I used to employ in a sector where full work history was needed due to safeguarding.

I would think you weremaking up your job if you wouldn't list the company, and think it very odd!

I recruit a lot, and I would discount this if I saw your CV without any context. I'd assume you had something to hide.

But if you called or emailed me in advance with a plausible explanation of why I'd probably give you the benefit of the doubt.

Struggling to think of what that plausible reason might be, though.

Thank you, I looks like I will need to state my current employer if I apply

I would not be happy if I received a CV without an employer named. I'd think you had something to hide.

What are you afraid of happening, StoneAge. Are you afraid your current employer will find out you applied for a job?

We're free agents. That shouldn't be outrageous concept (to look for employment elsewhere). How would it be in interests of prospective next employers to encourage your current employer to try to keep you. So they have a reason not to contact current employer if not necessary for reference.

I do lots of recruitment. Yyour cv would go straight in the bin, on assumption you were either daft, had something to hide, or were simply being irrationally awkward.
