Is it too soon to apply for a new job?

Further to my thread yesterday I really have had enough.

I;ve been in this job since early February, do you think that potential employers would be put off interviewing me as I have been in my current job for such a short time?

I've seen a job I would like to apply for but am not sure whether I should......

Were you with the same employer previously dreamof? If so that would be less of a problem I think.

Otherwise best bet is probably to be honest and say current move didn't work out as you thought. That relies on getting an interview though probably, or you could put that on a covering letter.

Other suggestion (naughty) would be to lie a bit and say on a cv or letter that it was a temporary post. Risky though as a referee might be asked that.

Nothing to lose by applying though...? :-)

It is another job in another department in the same uni. I;ve been at the uni for 5 years - 6 months in a temp post, four years in my old job and 6 months here.

I've had a think about it and it probably is too soon to apply for another job so will justneed to stick it out for another 6 months or so and hope I can stay sane....

6 months will go really quickly and a year in a post is absolutely reasonable to a future employer.
