DP looking to retrain - currently a teacher

Hi. Just need some info on whether or not it’s possible to retrain? DP is a primary school teacher but decided to move to TEFL. He’d like a challenge, is very much interested in IT but has a humanities degree, primary PGCE and CELTA. He’s in his mid-30s and would look to retrain in something related to IT, he’s doing courses in coding etc now. The reason why I’m asking for advice is being he’s just not whether or not he can go into IT without going back to education and getting a degree in computer science etc. What are his options? He’s also researching online but I thought I’d also ask in case I can help push him in the right direction if that makes sense?

TIA.

I’m also working as an EFL instructor but would like to work in the same field, would just like to support DP in his quest, he also doesn’t know I’ve asked here., in case anyone is wondering why I’m asking for him lol.

So he changes direction once and now he's liking to change again?

I'd be concerned about what's really underlying his fidgetiness. How do you know that computing is finally the right fit?

If he's mid 30s and unhappy let him retrain. (Possibly another 40 years work ahead of him) But he will probably start in a low paid entry level job. But if he keeps studying at nights can progress quite quickly. IT is a massive generic term.....where is his interest? What does he want to specialise in?

Cyber security seems to be a growing field but I'm not sure how you get into it. A computer science degree is probably a good start if you can afford it.

@colehawlins He didn’t change direction as he is still teaching but just not at primary school level. He’s happy to carry on teaching but he’s always been passionate about IT, coding, web design etc, he enjoys anything IT related. I’m not really into all of that so it just goes over my head. He’s just exploring his options and seeing whether it’s worth retraining.

What coding courses has he tried so far?
