No maternity leave response

I'm 28+4 weeks pregnant and my manager and HR have known since right at the start as I needed some time off. Weeks ago I formally gave them my expected due date, the date I want maternity leave to start, and the date I'd like to return (and asked them to confirm my pay, and the dates) but have had nothing back. I work for a large international company with a large UK based HR department, but despite following up several times they just wont get back to me.

From what I can see online, they are obligated to get back to me in 28 days, but we are way past this now. What can I do in this situation, because just knowing that they have to get back to me doesn't really help me actually get them to respond.

Does it actually matter that they haven't got back to me? I'm not going on leave for weeks, I just want it confirmed and to know the pay for the first 6 weeks (I get the statutory minimum, but had a bit of sick leave during the qualifying period so not totally sure exactly what my pay will be during the 6 weeks where its 90% of pay). I don't really want to send a pissy email stating that they are past the government deadline of 28 days for a response and I expect a response in x days, because I don't want it to look like I'm having a strop over something that there is still quite a bit of time to sort. But at the same time, they are totally ignoring me (I've asked for an update on when they expect to be able to get back to me - no response).

(Just to add, I'm definitely not hassling them in an annoying way, I gave them about 6 weeks to respond before initially chasing them up.)

Have you given them your MAT1B?

MeredithGrey1 · 03/04/2019 13:34

Yep they've had that for weeks as well.

Qualifying weeks for SMP end in week 25, so they have probably only just run payroll the vast majority of that period. So may only just be in a position to do the calculation for you.
I am guessing you had you Mat B1 bang on 20 weeks from the sound of things. Yes they should have replied, but may have been waiting till they could give you an accurate figure.
