Where I work (holiday cottage booking centre) they have this incredibly complicated points-mean-prizes system based on all kinds of weird stats.

Every month the best performers get a Congrats balloon and a £10 voucher, and I've had 2 of them so far last quarter - I found out today that I have won the quarterly prize in our section

(I get to have lunch in the boardroom with the MD, the 2 other section winners and various manager people - there is champagne but I'll have to do a 6-hour shift on the phone afterwards so will not be able to appreciate it )

Anyway I don't usually win anything, let alone by my own efforts, so I'm dead chuffed, so please excuse brag

I think the latest is they may go on holiday early and my sister will go next week, seems by far the easiest option (camping in france)

Some times of year there's hardly any point even trying - eg huge family parties for a big birthday or a golden wedding at October half term - and the number of people who thoughtfully arrange their weddings for a bank holiday, so that everyone gets a long weekend, and then discover that we don't book weekend breaks at peak times more than 28 days in advance. Very frustrating for the poor dears.
