Ever done any tv 'Extra' work?

I was thinking of taking a very short course for 'on camera acting', sticking some sort of profile online and looking for a bit of extra work. Not looking for fame xD just a wee job here and there to top up some income. Has anyone ever done any extra work? How easy is it to get parts? (I live in a Scottish city) Are there any online sites that have helped you find work? And have you enjoyed it?

Are you near any studios or TV/film production companies? Perhaps start by asking them which agencies they use.

If you just want money I suspect that a more ordinary job would be less hassle. I know someone who does it and I think it is mostly for fun.

I don't know what it pays, but I suspect it's not great! Remember there are a lot of 'resting' actors out there who do extra work to get exposure.

I've done few bits and bobs, with casting collective and ray knight. About £90 a day, nice food. Interestingt and dull at the same time. Lots of sitting around til you're needed then more sitting around then being told you're not needed! Often very early starts too. But I enjoy it 😀

When you say an 'early start', how early are you talking? Grin

Is there much work in London?

I haven't but our house has!

The house was used as a location for a mental health charity advert, we had one day filming and a couple of hours photoshoot in the garden, £300 per day.

We were also used for a cheese commercial last year, that was better paid as it was a for-profit with a bigger budget, £600 per day.

Hugely disruptive and you have to be prepared to hand over your keys to the location manager and trust them then clear out for the day but worth it for £600 a day. And our house is nothing special, ordinary family home.

I had to drive for an hour to be on set by 7am for the last thing I was in. Lots in and around London, although lots outside too 😊
