Helping a friend and agree to research accounting systems but could use some advice

Need to
-easily track expenses (take a photo and stored into the app)

  • Easily track income from invoices paid and business related outgoings
-Invoice immediately -Also Invoice in the future (so do Invoice to be sent on X day in month)

Any help hugely appriciated!

Have you looked at Quickbooks? It's hugely popular and has been around for ages.

I use Wave, it does all the basics and is free

mclady · 22/03/2019 18:43

Quickbooks is great. Straight forward to navigate with a prompt live chat function for when you do encounter any issues.

Thank you! Will check them out!

Have a look at Freeagent - FAR easier to use than Quickbooks which a lot of people struggle with to get right, in my opinion.

I use Wave. A friend uses Quickbooks.

Xero is also good.

Clavender · 28/03/2019 13:04

Xero is pretty good - I have also heard some people find Quickbooks tricky.

Another vote for Xero here. It does everything you have asked for and a lot more! It links to your bank account and imports the transactions to be matched against your sales and purchase invoices.

WildFlower2019 · 16/04/2019 11:54

Wave. It's free! You can't beat it!

WildFlower2019 · 16/04/2019 11:55

Wave also does invoices, expenses and links to to your bank account. My accountant recommended it to me.

i can't believe I spent £20 per month on software for years when wave was free and did the same thing!

Another vote for Wave here.

I got pressured into using Quickbooks by my accountant but soon realised I didn't need something so substantial. Plus their invoices are really ugly in my opinion.

Cancelled my subscription and went back to Wave. It's free but I'd happily pay for it if I had to!

I’d recommend Xero over Quickbooks, Xero is very easy to use.

Be careful with Wave - it's not an EU firm and the last time I checked, there was doubt as to whether it complied with GDPR (statement on their website saying it was working towards compliance which means it wasn't compliant at that time). If you have any personal information, i.e. names/addresses/phone/email of sole trader clients, employees or sole trader clients, you may find yourself in breach of GDPR.
