I went for a job interview 3 weeks ago, I felt it went pretty well, was a bit nervous but not cripplingly so. They said they would let me know during the next week, that came and went, so I gave it a few days (just short of a week, actually) and phoned them. Told the receptionist who I was, she got the office manager who came on the line and said "Hello rantinghousewife, it's been more difficult than we expected and we're still in the process of deciding but, we'll let you know as soon as we've made a decision". Since which, nothing. Why would they not let me know (either way)? They're not a cowboy outfit, it's the local dr's surgery. Any ideas.

I reckon you're their second choice but the top candidate is arsing about and/or arguing over pay / T&Cs so they're waiting for her to give them a definite yes or no.
If you've been offered something else, take the other one, but if you haven't any other plans hang fire.

I wondered that too. Just can't think of any other reason why they would not let me know by now, would you? Still hope eh?

Yes call them ,you will know one way or the other then and can make plans if you don't get it.
