How soon is too soon...

...to change jobs? I was in my last job 4 years. Have been in my current job 8 months, don't enjoy it and really don't get on with my Manager.

How soon is 'too soon' to start looking for another job? In another words what is an acceptabel minimum to employees to have been in a role so as not to appear flakey?

Wondering whether to stick it out for the year and then look, or start looking now.

In this day and age a year I'd say, but I've known less. If you apply now you might have an interview in a month and then work your notice so you'd be looking at 10 months minimum. I'd say that's fine.

I'd say anything less than a year doesn't look great although if you have a stable work history you can probably get away with one short lived role on your CV if you have a good narrative about why you're moving on - never criticise an employer at interview.

I think one six month role is fine on a CV as a recruiter, but would expect your next role to be longer to show it was an anomaly!

Just say you made a mistake from leaving the previous company and they have filled the role now so you can’t go back.

You could just say that this role wasn't what you expected and it wasn't right for you
