Working in maternity

Hello, I would love to start working with new mums and babies either in pregnancy or post birth but have found out that to be a maternity assistant will be 12 hours shifts which is going to be too hard around baby with feeding etc.

Does anyone know of any alternative jobs/careers in this field but are more 9-5 ish hours?

If you want to work in the maternity nursing field you have to accept that nurses do shift work. I've been a nurse for many years and I've never known nurses to work 9-5. Maybe some other posters might have some suggestions, but if you have a baby and need to work around their needs, you might have limited options at the moment.
