Hi all,

I need some advice with getting job interviews - I have applied for jobs in the NHS and yet, I have not received any invitation for an interview. I am a graduate in science, post-grad in computer sciences, have a level 3 certification in medical terminology from AMSPAR, studied for one year in the US for clinical coding, passed the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Although, I don't have any previous work experience in coding, shouldn't these qualifications be enough to get a interview invite for a trainee post in UK? What do I need to do to get an interview? Please help me .

Bit of an example for you: i once wanted a job, I saw it, wasn’t qualified but thought it was a good fit at the time for my vision. I applied for the job, then I put a date in my diary for the interview, And i put a start date on my diary for when I would start. I did this all on the same day. I would get up at the time I would’ve needed to of got up for the job and got dressed, I would visualise my commute to the place of work at the time I would have left for commute. I would visualise the day that I would have. The whole visualisation was no more than 10mins per day.

I got the job, my interview was a day before the date I placed in the diary, and I started on the day i put in my diary. I wasn’t qualified for the job but they were willing to train me for it.

Have faith, you will get there !!

In terms of generic advice I’d make sure your cv and covering letter really sells you. You want to grab people’s attention at the beginning so they make it to the end and feel they want to meet you in person. You sound more than qualified, so it’s about finding the right match for you!

Please just keep applying OP, it's often a numbers game.

You have tremendous qualifications. The NHS like many other public sector organisations runs recruitment campaigns, they need people with your skills, so don't give up. Once you can get your foot in the door, they'll be very impressed. Coding is something you easily have the capability to learn with your existing knowledge.

Sorry I don’t necessarily believe in the whole positive imagining of getting a job. It’s all about your application and cv. As an employer we receive hundreds per job, we read each one for sometimes only seconds. Spot one typo (hypocritical as I make lots) and it’s on the no pile. Weird font, nope. I tend to look past the qualifications and more at who stands out as original and really wants this, without sounding cocky.

Having worked for the NHS for many years I can say it may be because they haven’t sorted the interviews yet. Remember they are not a private company! It may be you didn’t have relevant work experience despite all your training. Why don’t you call them?

I assume you don’t have a right to work in the uk issue?
