Conciliation handhold.

My partner's employer has agreed to conciliation after what we believe was an unfair and wrongful dismissal. They agreed immediately after ACAS contact and are keen not to go to tribunal. Just wondering what we can expect from here.

I've just been through this. It's alright. It was a hard process, it took about three weeks to get anything sorted; and ACAS won't provide any advice about what is fair. They got a few things wrong for me too (whether certain things needed to be taxed, etc).

We did agree a settlement and they were very swift in getting the agreement over to me to sign the next day, and I sent it to my employer.

Sadly the date to be paid has passed and ACAS can no longer help other than saying they "intend" to pay; so it's probably not worth me starting court proceedings yet, although they can't advise on that either.

It's a good thing his work are engaging and hopefully the initial 31 day deadline will prompt them into action. Sadly my employer was aware that these things are usually extended a few times.

I'd definitely get legal advice on offers if you can, and make them commit to a date to paying you if money is involved, not "21 days from..." or anything open to interpretation even slightly.

Good luck Thanks

Thanks for that reply and useful info.
We knew that ACAS don't provide advice and have been doing quite a bit of research.
I hope you get yours sorted.
