Breastfeeding and Returning to Work

Hello Mums. My son is 8 months old and I’d like to ask for advice about reducing beastfeeding? I’m happy to continue to feed him at nighttime/ through the night but I’m going back to work soon and I’d like to make the transition smooth for him. Can anyone suggest how I might do this? He has never taken a bottle but takes solids reasonably well and can drink from a sippy cup (with help). He naps mid morning and late afternoon - both times when I will be at work and he breastfeeds to fall asleep at these times. He's a very unhappy baby without these naps and he won't fall asleep without feeding (I know this isn't ideal!). I'm worried about him starting nursery as I'm not sure how he'll cope without me for these feeds/ naps. Has anyone been in a similar position? Thanks all!

I went back a bit later (1 year) and was part time but I found feeding DC last thing before I left and as soon as we got home worked. My supply adjusted and I continued to feed for another 18 months like this.

Be prepared for increased night feeding though. It is actually a common thing, Kellysmom website will explain it.
