Query over when to stop filing self assessment

I am pretty sure I know the answer already but....

for the last 2 years I've not earned enough to pay tax. I am semi-retired and don't see my income increasing from now on.

I spend ages each year doing my self assessment only to find out I owe no tax. Do I have to keep filing one for ever, even if I earn below the personal allowance?

Look at the HMRC webpage to see if your earnings are low enough to be taken out of self assessment.
