Moving from self-employment to being an employee

Hello,

I have been self-employed for 6 years approximately. Although I enjoy my job, I do not make much money. I would like to apply for jobs locally and my problem is I can't give a recent reference from an employer. I left my employer's workplace in 2009.

Which kind of references can I give?

Many thanks for your help

Can you ask a couple of your clients to write you a letter about your services? Or your accountant?

My DH moved from 19 years SE to PAYE 3 years ago. He got references from his clients.

References from clients is the only way if your new employer is adament on wanting something.

An accountants' reference can only really be to confirm self employment for the dates, as they're highly unlikely to be able to give an opinion as to workplace ability/skills etc.
