Occupational Health - who is responsible?

Quick question if I may - If a manager has decided that an employee should be referred to occupational health, who is responsible for liaising with HR and arranging the necessary referral and appointment - is it the manager or the employee that is the subject of the referral?

The Manager should.

Where I am the manager would do it but a staff member can self refer if they wish to.

We can't self-refer, but once I'd agreed to go, I made all the arrangements.

Thanks, sounds like it can work both ways. I'm used to the manager having to do it.

Hi I work in OH. If it is the managers idea then they refer. If an employee mutters the words my manager asked me to come and it is a self referral I politely point out that their manager may be disappointed because I don't write reports for self referrals so if they wanted information they should have referred the employee
To get round this most companies don't allow self refer anymore because it muddies the water and leads to confusion.

Thanks 2isur2isubicurtis4me
