What's in your contract? Might only be statutory sick pay

your hours are irrelevant. It will depend on what your contract says. You will be entitled to SSP if you meet the statutory requirements.

You might not earn enough to qualify for SSP though so don't know really

Need to earn £116 a week to qualify for SSP

If you work for a local authority school it’s likely to be your length of service which determines your entitlement to sick pay.

It sounds like you work at a school? In which case your employer is probably your local county council? (Unless you work at an academy) Are you able to contact the your HR dept?
